- Brands from Volkswagen Group, Stellantis recorded the most competitive rates.
- Combined data from monthly rates and registrations to support finance and sales planning.
- Averages for combustion engine cars are dominated by traditional brands.
A new planning tool – Autometrics – has been released following the collaboration between Dataforce and Experteye. While the former is known for being Europe’s leading provider of segmented vehicle registration data, the latter is the European specialist in automotive pricing and lease rate benchmarking.
Autometrics enables better financial and sales planning by combining high-quality data on vehicle prices, leasing rates, and registrations in one solution. It supports leasing companies, OEMs, and consultancy agencies seeking to understand market dynamics and steer pricing strategies.
Carmakers can assess the positioning of their models against a selected basket of competitors by comparing manufacturer suggested retail prices (MSRP), monthly lease payments and lease factors. Leasing companies can use these benchmarks to assess vehicle offers, while consultants can identify competitive offers and market trends for closer analysis.
Legacy brands, the most aggressive for EV leases.
The data provided by Autometrics shows intriguing findings. The results for the period January-August for the German car market indicates that when it is about pure electric cars (BEV), hybrids (HEV), and plug-in hybrid cars (PHEV), it is the traditional brands and not the Chinese ones with the most competitive lease factor rates.
The data is based on averages available by the end of August from leasing companies. Leasing factors are calculated by dividing the monthly payment by the retail price valid by the end of the month and then multiplying it by 100. Therefore, any rate under 1 is considered a good deal compared to the total value of the car. The lease factor matrix helps users identify relatively attractive offers and potential discounting activity across competing vehicles, highlighting where further investigation may be useful.
By the end of August, Volkswagen’s sport-volume brand Cupra posted the best rate among the electric cars available. The Spanish brand recorded an average rate of 0.75% for its Born and Tavascan models. The result applies only for B2B sales with a 36-month /30,000 km condition.
